AC Milan Secures Gonçalo…

AC Milan has finalized the acquisition of Portugal forward Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for a record-setting fee exceeding €70 million ($80 million).

The 25-year-old Ramos becomes the first signing under new coach Rúben Amorim, signaling a determined shift for Milan after what the club’s American owners described as “a clear failure” of a season. He has signed a contract that extends until the conclusion of the 2030-31 season.

This transfer marks the most significant investment in Milan’s history, with reports indicating that they have spent approximately €74 million ($84 million), breaking the previous record for the club. It also ranks among the highest transfer fees ever dealt in Serie A.

The previous record for Milan was the €49.5 million ($56.5 million) paid to Lille for Rafael Leão in 2019.

Ramos will join an attacking lineup that already includes stars like Leão and Christian Pulisic. Amorim, formerly the manager of Manchester United, was appointed as Milan’s new manager this summer.

The move was confirmed while Ramos is participating in the World Cup with Portugal, as they prepare for a round-of-16 clash against Croatia.

Ramos began his professional career at Benfica before making a high-profile switch to the French capital in 2023.

Despite not being a consistent starter at PSG, where he scored 45 goals in 131 matches, he earned 12 trophies, including two Champions League titles.

Since debuting for the senior Portuguese national team in November 2022, Ramos has often played support to Cristiano Ronaldo as the leading figure in the attack.
