Trent Alexander-Arnold paid tribute to Diogo Jota outside Anfield on Monday night.
Together with his Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, Alexander-Arnold laid flowers in memory of Jota at the Liverpool stadium ahead of their Champions League match.
Jota, who was 28, tragically lost his life in a car accident in Portugal in July, along with his brother André, aged 26.
A group from Real Madrid, including Jota’s former teammate Alexander-Arnold and legend Emilio Butragueno, gathered to honor his memory on the eve of Tuesday’s match.
In an emotional message, Alexander-Arnold expressed: “My mate Diogo, you are so missed but still so loved. Your memory, along with Andre’s, will forever remain with us. I smile every time I think of you and will always cherish the wonderful moments we had together. I miss you every day. Love, Trent and family. Forever 20. YNWA.”
Real defender Dean Huijsen also joined the tribute on Monday.
In honor of Jota, Liverpool has retired the No. 20 jersey.
