Ruben Amorim required additional time at Manchester United to fully “implement his ideas,” according to one of his assistants at Old Trafford.
Amorim was dismissed in January after 14 months in the role.
During his tenure, the Portuguese manager achieved victories in less than one-third of his 47 Premier League games, resulting in a win percentage of merely 38.1% across all competitions.
Despite this, Candido, who served as Amorim’s assistant at United, believes the 41-year-old should have been granted more time in the position.
“I really enjoyed Manchester, especially the way the fans are deeply passionate about football, focusing more on the project rather than immediate results,” Candido noted in an interview with A Bola.
“However, I was somewhat disheartened by the feeling that our ideas were not being fully realized.”
Since his departure from United, Amorim has remained relatively silent.
In addition to the unsatisfactory results, reports indicated to ESPN that a strained relationship with director of football Jason Wilcox contributed to his exit.

“Every experience is valuable,” Candido remarked. “Regardless of whether people view our work as successful or not, we ultimately learn something from it. Only time will reveal whether our time at Manchester United had a negative impact on our careers.”
