Ruben Amorim stated that Manchester United will not make any January signings unless he comes to “common ground” with director of football Jason Wilcox regarding which players can enhance the team.
It appears United may have lost out on acquiring Antoine Semenyo, as Manchester City is currently leading the pursuit for the Bournemouth winger.
Reports have also circulated about interest in various players, especially central midfielders.
Amorim disclosed that he often finds himself at odds with Wilcox regarding potential new signings.
He emphasized that any incoming players in January must have the approval of both the coaching staff and the board.
“At times I have one perspective, while Jason and the board have another,” Amorim mentioned.
“Reaching a consensus on every decision is vital.
“It’s important not to make every decision solely for the manager, as they can change, which would require a complete overhaul.
“However, it’s crucial to recognize that the manager understands the style of play. If we fail to achieve common ground, a player won’t come, so that’s what we aim for.”
As he prepares to face Wolves at Old Trafford on Tuesday, Amorim is riding high after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Newcastle.
Given the thin squad he had on Boxing Day, Amorim is not optimistic about welcoming back any players for the Wolves match.

Bruno Fernandes is dealing with a hamstring injury, and Amorim revealed he has to restrain his captain’s eagerness.
“Bruno insists he needs to train,” Amorim shared.
“There’s no way he’s playing against Wolves, absolutely no chance. You can quote me on that.
“He’s the one observing training even while recovering. I don’t know if he wants my job or not, but he definitely shows leadership. He’s a true leader.”
