Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of the Brazil national team, has highlighted that Chelsea’s rising star Estêvão has secured himself a place for the 2026 World Cup.
At just 18 years old, Estêvão has captured attention at Stamford Bridge since his arrival from Palmeiras for £29 million ($38 million) this summer.
When asked about the potential inclusion of the Chelsea winger, who has netted three goals in five Champions League matches—including an impressive solo goal against FC Barcelona last week—Ancelotti told Esporte Record: “I believe so. Considering Estêvão’s performances over the last six months, I can confidently say that Estêvão will be part of the World Cup.”
Estêvão, who debuted for Brazil in September 2024, has solidified his place in Ancelotti’s starting lineup, scoring four goals in just three appearances for the national team. In total, he has netted five goals across 11 caps for Brazil.
Describing Estêvão, Ancelotti said, “He is an exceptionally talented player. While he has immense natural ability, he is still developing, and there’s room for improvement, particularly given his age. However, he has the talent to continue his growth.”
So far, Estêvão has made 11 appearances in the Premier League for Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea, starting in five of those matches.

Ancelotti is optimistic about Chelsea’s role in Estêvão’s development.
“Their focus on his physical, tactical, and mental growth is crucial, especially considering his youth,” he stated. “Estêvão is making significant strides at Chelsea. While I haven’t discussed this directly with the club, I’m confident they’re implementing a tailored development program for him.”
“The national team must take advantage of this immense talent.”
