Arsenal Secure Permanent…

Arsenal has exercised their option to permanently sign defender Piero Hincapié from Bayer Leverkusen.

The 24-year-old defender, who represents Ecuador, spent the previous season on loan at the Emirates, making 39 appearances across all competitions as Arsenal clinched the Premier League title.

Hincapié made his Arsenal debut in September, starting 20 matches in the Premier League while contributing to a defense that conceded just 27 goals. He was also part of the starting lineup in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Prior to his time at Arsenal, Hincapié played 166 matches for Bayer Leverkusen, where he helped the team achieve an unbeaten record in the domestic league and secure their first Bundesliga title in the 2023-24 season.

Hincapié began his professional career at Independiente del Valle in Ecuador before moving to Talleres in Argentina in 2020, where he spent one season before transferring to Leverkusen.

He has earned 54 caps for Ecuador and participated in four major tournaments, including the 2026 World Cup.

The official transfer will take effect on July 1.
