Following Trossard’s exit, the Gunners plan to step up their pursuit of Club Brugge forward Christos Tzolis.
In June, BBC Sport reported the Gunners’ interest in the Greece international, and the club are now preparing a move for the attacker.
Club Brugge are expecting an offer from Arsenal for Tzolis.
Sporting director Andrea Berta is advancing the deal after his assistant, Maurizio Micheli, watched the 24-year-old play for Greece against Sweden last month.
Tzolis is believed to be available for around £30m (€35m).
Any approach for him would be separate from Arsenal‘s pursuit of more high-profile attacking targets this summer.
They maintain long-term interest in Atletico Madrid’s Julián Álvarez, who is the club’s priority, though it remains uncertain whether a deal for the Argentina international can be done this summer amid competition from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Morgan Rogers is Arsenal’s preferred option for a versatile forward, with efforts to sign the Aston Villa attacker set to ramp up once his World Cup campaign with England ends.
Paris St-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is seen as the fallback if talks with Aston Villa stall, with Rogers reportedly valued at £130m.
Meanwhile, Arsenal recruitment specialist Micheli watched Georgia Under-21 international Andria Bartishvili feature for Iberia 1999 against Flora in last Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier, with sources indicating the Gunners are intensifying their efforts to sign the teenage forward.
