Olivia Smith has officially withdrawn from Canada‘s squad for the SheBelieves Cup following a concussion she suffered on Sunday, as confirmed by Arsenal.
During Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Bristol City in the FA Cup, Smith was taken off the field on a stretcher after being hit in the face with the ball, but she was discharged from the hospital later that same day.
Although Smith was released from the hospital, she will not participate in international play due to the concussion and will be under Arsenal’s medical care during her recovery, as stated by the Women’s Super League club on Thursday.
In her absence, Canada has named Megan Reid from the NWSL‘s Denver Summit as her replacement.
Canada is set to compete against the United States, Colombia, and Argentina starting March 1 in the SheBelieves Cup.
