In a light-hearted moment during a press conference on Saturday, when asked about Vinícius’ potential arrival at the Premier League champions, Arteta only laughed before leaving the stage.
Vinícius’ contract with Real Madrid is set to expire next summer, and ESPN reported on Friday that the Spanish club is considering allowing the 26-year-old to leave if a new contract isn’t negotiated, as they have no intention of increasing their previous renewal offer.
Sources inform ESPN that Arsenal would be in a favorable position should Vinícius decide to switch clubs, although a representative for the player indicated that there has been no communication with the Premier League team.
Earlier, when discussing potential signings ahead of the new season, Arteta shared insight into Arsenal’s transfer activities. “We are very proactive in enhancing and evolving our squad,” he stated following Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Girona in a preseason friendly in Spain. “We expect to see movements in the next few weeks as we aim to improve, just like everyone else.”
