Barça Targets Dortmunds…

Barcelona has submitted a bid for Borussia Dortmund‘s Karim Adeyemi as they work to strengthen their attack for the upcoming season, sources have confirmed to ESPN.

Adeyemi, 24, is under contract until 2027, and Barcelona is optimistic that the adaptable forward can be acquired at a reduced fee this summer.

The club has tentatively agreed on personal terms with the player, but negotiations with Dortmund are still ongoing. A source noted that the agreement is “not imminent” and “nothing has been finalized.”

Barcelona’s interest in Adeyemi is separate from their search for a new central striker, as Atlético Madrid‘s Julián Álvarez remains their primary target.

As reported by ESPN in March, Barcelona is eager to revamp their forward line this summer on the advice of coach Hansi Flick after clinching back-to-back La Liga titles.

There have already been notable departures, including Robert Lewandowski, who has moved to the Chicago Fire on a free transfer, and Marcus Rashford, who returned to Manchester United after his loan. Additionally, Ferran Torres is entering the final year of his contract, and Roony Bardghji could also depart.

Meanwhile, Barcelona has already finalized the acquisition of England forward Anthony Gordon in a €70 million ($80 million) deal from Newcastle United, but they are still in search of more players.

President Joan Laporta has confirmed that they have made a bid for Álvarez, who is reported to want to leave Atlético. However, the team also seeks greater depth in their wide positions.

Adeyemi, who can operate in various attacking roles, could offer a different dynamic complementing players like Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Gordon.

Adeyemi started his career at Red Bull Salzburg before joining Dortmund in 2022, where he has played for four seasons. To date, he has made 146 appearances for the German club, scoring 36 goals, including 10 in 39 matches last season.
