Barcelona forward Roony Bardghji has suffered a torn ACL, as confirmed by the Spanish champions on Tuesday, disrupting potential transfer plans for the summer.
The 20-year-old injured his right knee during Monday’s training session, with medical evaluations indicating he will require surgery in the coming days, putting him out of action for several months.
This marks the second time Bardghji has faced such an injury, having previously torn the ACL in the same knee while playing for Copenhagen in 2024.
As a result, the possibility of the Swedish international leaving Barça before the transfer window closes on September 1 has been eliminated.
Last week, coach Hansi Flick had advised Bardghji to seek a new club for the summer due to limited playing time anticipated for the upcoming season.
This led to Bardghji being omitted from the squad for Saturday’s friendlies against Nottingham Forest and Udinese, in an effort to prevent an injury prior to a potential transfer. Unfortunately, fate would have it that he was hurt during training on Monday.

Barcelona had received interest in Bardghji from various clubs across Europe, including those in the Premier League, and discussions were anticipated to gain momentum following Flick’s conversation with the player.
Bardghji, who joined Barça from Copenhagen in a deal valued at around €2m last summer, made 28 appearances for the club during the previous season, netting two goals. However, most of his playtime came as a substitute, and his chances were expected to diminish even further with the arrivals of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi.
