Barça’s Pajor Escapes ACL…

Barcelona’s striker Ewa Pajor is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks due to a knee injury, but fortunately, she has avoided an ACL tear, as confirmed by the club on Monday.

The 28-year-old sustained the injury during Sunday’s impressive 6-0 victory in Liga F against Atlético Madrid, where she netted the third goal of the match.

Initially worried about the severity of the injury, Barça was relieved to find from Monday’s tests that the Polish international did not suffer any significant damage and will not require surgery.

“The tests revealed an injury to the posterolateral aspect of the right knee, with no further accompanying damage,” said Barça.

The treatment for her injury will be conservative, and the expected recovery time is between four to six weeks.

Pajor has made a strong start to the season, scoring eight goals in eight appearances across all competitions, which includes a brace during Barça’s thrilling 7-1 win over Bayern Munich to kick off their Champions League campaign.

As the only natural striker in the team, coach Pere Romeu will need to rethink his attacking strategy while Pajor is out.

In the past, Clàudia Pina, Salma Paralluelo, Alexia Putellas, and Kika Nazareth have filled the No.9 role at different times, but it is not where they typically excel.

Pajor transferred to Barça from Wolfsburg in 2024 for around €500,000, immediately making an impact and scoring 43 goals in 45 outings as the team clinched Liga F, the Copa de la Reina, and the Spanish Supercopa, although they were runners-up in the Champions League final against Arsenal.

Additionally, Barça confirmed on Monday that goalkeeper Cata Coll has signed a new contract, extending her stay with the club until at least 2029.

Barça will visit Roma on Wednesday for a Champions League match (STREAM LIVE ETC), aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the season and secure a ninth consecutive win.
