Bayern Munich Secures…

Bayern Munich’s head coach, Vincent Kompany, expressed his excitement about continuing “a wonderful journey” after securing a contract extension with the Bundesliga champions that will keep him at the club until 2029.

The 39-year-old former Burnley manager found success in his debut season, leading the team to the title after taking over from Thomas Tuchel in May 2024.

“I am thankful and honored, and I want to express my gratitude to Bayern for the trust and the positive environment they’ve provided me since day one,” Kompany said.

Kompany, a former defender for Belgium who won the Premier League four times and the FA Cup twice with Manchester City, received a two-year contract extension.

“It feels like I’ve been here for a lot longer, and I feel well-acquainted with the club,” he commented on the Bayern Munich website. “The experience has been incredible thus far. We’ve embarked on a wonderful journey, and I’m excited to continue working hard and achieving even more success.”

This season, Kompany’s team has triumphed in all seven of their Bundesliga matches, with England captain Harry Kane continuing his remarkable scoring streak.

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen remarked that Kompany has “revived the joy in Bayern, and his enthusiasm has truly resonated with everyone.”

“Under his guidance, a cohesive team has emerged that plays both dominant and attractive football,” Dreesen added. “The contract extension also signals our commitment to the players.”

Bayern’s president, Herbert Hainer, expressed that “the contract extension with Vincent Kompany is a resounding endorsement from the club, acknowledging the excellent job he has done so far and demonstrating our commitment to stability and continuity at Bayern. Vincent is greatly respected by the players, management, and fans alike. We are thrilled about the early extension of our partnership.”

Looking ahead, Bayern will return to European competition with a home match against Belgian team Club Brugge on Wednesday, aiming for their third consecutive Champions League victory of the new season.
