Bayern Munich Shatter…

Bayern Munich has set a new record in the Bundesliga, scoring their 102nd league goal of the season against St. Pauli on Saturday.

The goal by Leon Goretzka surpassed the previous record of 101 goals that Bayern set during the iconic 1971-72 season, a time when legends like Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller led the team to a memorable 11-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

With five matches remaining, Bayern has the opportunity to surpass the 106-goal mark set by Manchester City in the 2017-18 Premier League or the 121 goals scored by Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Real Madrid team in La Liga during the 2011-12 season.

Chasing these targets is even more remarkable as Bayern has four fewer games to play due to the 34-match format of the Bundesliga.

The all-time scoring record in Europe’s top five leagues stands at 125 goals, achieved by Torino during the 1947-48 Serie A season, which consisted of 40 games.

This season has been exceptional for Vincent Kompany’s side, who currently leads the Bundesliga by a significant margin.

Bayern established a record by winning their first 14 matches, and during this stretch, they became the fastest club in Bundesliga history to reach 50 goals.

Bayern’s 100th Bundesliga goal came courtesy of Lennart Karl, who netted a last-minute winner in a thrilling 3-2 comeback against Freiburg last week.

Leading the charge for Bayern is Harry Kane, who has tallied 31 league goals, aiming to break Robert Lewandowski‘s Bundesliga record of 41. Luis Díaz (15) and Michael Olise (12) have also made significant contributions with double-digit goals from the wings.

With the Bundesliga title looking increasingly secure, Bayern is set to welcome Real Madrid to the Allianz Arena on Tuesday, holding a 2-1 advantage in their Champions League quarterfinal. They will also compete against Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup semifinals later this month.
