Bayerns Díaz Suspended…

Bayern Munich winger Luis Díaz has been suspended for three matches by UEFA after receiving a red card during a match against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

UEFA ruled that Díaz engaged in “serious rough play” when he tackled Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi during the first-half stoppage time of Bayern’s 2-1 Champions League victory at Parc des Princes.

Díaz had a remarkable performance in Paris, netting both goals for Bayern in the first half prior to his dismissal.

The Colombia international will be unavailable for Bayern’s upcoming match against Arsenal on Wednesday, as well as home fixtures against Sporting CP (Dec. 9) and Union Saint-Gilloise (Jan. 21).

Bayern Munich currently leads the Champions League group with a perfect record, securing maximum points from four matches.

Díaz has been instrumental for Bayern, contributing to a record-breaking start to the season where they won their first 16 matches across all competitions before settling for a 2-2 draw against Union Berlin in their last outing.

Since transferring from Liverpool this summer, Díaz has tallied 11 goals and seven assists in his first 17 games.

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany is also dealing with a fitness issue concerning Serge Gnabry, anticipating that the forward may miss Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture against Freiburg.

Gnabry played the entirety of Germany’s 6-0 victory over Slovakia, helping secure his team’s place in next summer’s World Cup, but has reported for club training with a muscle injury.

“Serge returned from international duty and is still experiencing a twinge,” Kompany stated on Friday. “We’ll assess the situation; he likely won’t be ready for Freiburg, but we’re hopeful for the next game.”
