The biggest call is leaving out Ezri Konsa, and I’m not convinced Thomas Tuchel will do that. Still, if there’s a game that demands John Stones’ experience, this is it. If Reece James isn’t ready to start, then Konsa likely continues at right-back.
Another key decision is putting Morgan Rogers on the right, a role he’s handled at Aston Villa. England haven’t got enough from Noni Madueke or Bukayo Saka on that flank. Even though Saka is reportedly fully fit and pain-free after his Achilles issue, he hasn’t hit his usual top level.
England need goals from someone beyond Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, and Rogers looks capable of providing them.
Tuchel praised Rogers for his impact off the bench in Miami and called him one of his key players. He’s been productive for England this season, is match sharp, and this could be the moment to ask him to take on more. Saka and/or Madueke might also be more effective as impact substitutes.
There’s also the caveat of whether Declan Rice has fully recovered after being thrown in against Norway so soon after illness.
