Brentford have signed former England striker Callum Wilson on a 12-month deal.
Wilson was a free agent after leaving the London Stadium following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
The 34-year-old’s arrival follows Jaidon Anthony’s move from Burnley earlier this week.
Head coach Keith Andrews described Wilson as a smart addition, highlighting his goal-scoring know-how and the experience he will bring around the training ground.
Wilson will compete with Brazil international Igor Thiago. Brentford maintain Thiago is not for sale at any price, despite reports this summer of potential £80m–£90m offers.
Andrews said Wilson is a familiar Premier League scorer who boosts their attacking options and will help Igor Thiago and Kaye Furo with his experience.
Wilson has extensive top-flight experience with West Ham, Newcastle United and Bournemouth. He earned nine England caps between 2018 and 2023, scored twice, and featured at the 2022 World Cup.
He netted seven goals in 32 appearances for West Ham last season.
Wilson had also been linked with a return to his boyhood club Coventry City, who are back in the Premier League for the first time in 25 years after winning the Championship last season.
