Birmingham City have completed the signings of defender Millie Turner and midfielder Lisa Naalsund from Manchester United.
The couple, who announced their engagement last month, are understood to have moved for six-figure fees as Birmingham prepare for their return to the Women’s Super League (WSL).
Birmingham secured the WSL 2 title last season, ending a five-year spell away from the top division.
Turner, capped twice by England, and Naalsund, a 39-cap Norway international, are believed to have signed three-year deals.
Turner, 30, made 189 appearances across eight seasons at United and was part of the squad that lifted the club’s first major honour, the FA Cup, in 2024.
She said this is exactly where she wants to be, calling it an exciting project with no limits on what can be achieved.
A United academy graduate, Turner helped win promotion from WSL 2 in 2019 and sits second only to Ella Toone for all-time appearances at the club.
Birmingham manager Amy Merricks said Turner offers top-level experience and quality, as well as outstanding character and leadership, and that her daily standards will positively influence the group.
Naalsund featured 74 times for United, scoring eight goals, after joining in January 2023.
The 31-year-old previously won back-to-back league titles with Norwegian side Brann.
Naalsund said conversations with Birmingham immediately felt right and that her instincts led her to choose a club whose people and project excited her, with a future that looks bright.
United had triggered an extension clause in January taking her contract to 2027, leaving a year remaining, so Birmingham were required to pay a fee.
United’s transfer window has been quiet so far, but sources indicate funds from departures will be reinvested in the squad before next season begins.
