Bournemouth have reached an agreement with Elche for striker Alvaro Rodriguez, agreeing an initial £21.4m fee that could rise to £25.7m with add-ons.
The 21-year-old is expected to undergo a medical and sign a five-year contract at the Vitality Stadium on Monday.
Real Madrid, who sold Rodriguez to Elche last summer, will receive 50% of any future transfer fee. The Uruguay youth international is also eligible to play for Spain.
After securing Europa League qualification with a best-ever Premier League finish under Andoni Iraola—who has since left to manage Liverpool—Bournemouth are moving to strengthen their squad. Marco Rose, formerly of RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, has taken over and the club is prioritising a striker and a left-sided centre-back.
Any new forward would compete with and support Evanilson, while the club are open to selling Turkey international Enes Unal for the right offer.
Bournemouth are aiming for a calmer window than last summer, when three first-choice defenders and the starting goalkeeper departed.
Midfielder Alex Scott has attracted interest from several clubs and is believed to be valued at around £80m, but Bournemouth maintain he is not for sale despite enquiries from Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United. The club hope Scott will agree a new deal on improved terms, potentially including a clause allowing a future move for a set fee—similar to the arrangement that preceded Antoine Semenyo’s January transfer to Manchester City for about £65m.
The Cherries have also confirmed their pre-season schedule, with matches against St Pauli and Augsburg in Austria, trips to Real Betis and Mainz to prepare for European travel, and a home training-ground fixture against Genoa.
