Brazil Address Paquetás…

Lucas Paquetá is set to undergo rigorous treatment for a hamstring injury as he aims to return to play for Brazil in the World Cup.

The Flamengo midfielder exited the field limping at halftime during Brazil’s 2-1 victory against Japan on Monday.

According to the Brazil Football Confederation (CBF), “Paquetá underwent an imaging exam that confirmed a muscle injury in the back of his left thigh.”

The player will follow an intensive treatment plan under the guidance of the Brazilian national team’s medical staff, aiming for a swift recovery to get back on the field.

Paquetá will miss Brazil’s round of 16 match against Norway in New Jersey this Sunday, and it remains uncertain if he will be able to play again in this tournament.

Sources have indicated to ESPN that Paquetá has sustained a Grade II strain, which could keep him out for approximately three weeks.

The former West Ham player has started all four of Brazil’s matches in the tournament and remains optimistic about his recovery.

“I have faith… I’ve been through this before,” wrote Paquetá, 28, on Instagram.

Brazil is also missing Raphinha, who suffered a hamstring injury during Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Haiti in the group stage, with Bournemouth winger Rayan stepping in for him.
