Casemiro: Carrick…

Casemiro stated to ESPN that Michael Carrick “completely deserves” the role of full-time manager for Manchester United, following his remarkable impact on the club’s season.

At the time of Ruben Amorim’s dismissal, United was in sixth place in the Premier League, having accumulated 31 points from 20 games.

A 2-2 draw against Burnley under interim manager Darren Fletcher did little to improve their position, but since Carrick resumed the caretaker role, the team has surged up the standings.

During his 14 matches in charge, United has secured 10 victories and drawn twice, with two losses against Leeds United at Old Trafford and Newcastle United.

They have performed so impressively that they defeated title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City, as well as triumphing over Liverpool and Chelsea, positioning the club comfortably in third place and securing a Champions League spot for the upcoming season.

Since Carrick took charge, United is currently leading the Premier League form table, amassing 32 of their total 64 points under him in just 14 matches.

“In my view, he absolutely deserves the Manchester United role. He has shown he possesses the qualities needed to be the club’s manager,” Casemiro told ESPN Brazil’s João Castelo-Branco.

“Ultimately, it’s not my decision; that rests with the club.

“But if I could share my opinion, I’d say he certainly merits it and deserves the full confidence of the club.

“While the season is a marathon, he has done an outstanding job since joining, and I believe he has the potential to be a great manager for Manchester United with more time.”

Casemiro has benefited significantly from Carrick’s leadership, tallying nine Premier League goals this season under him. He added, “He’s a coach who understands the club, having been an idol here, won numerous titles, and knows what Manchester United represents.

“I commend the coach; it was surprising how quickly he adapted, stepping in during a tumultuous season.

“The matches he initially faced were challenging, but he managed to transform the club and me, especially as a former player and midfielder.

“I’m thrilled for him as a person; he’s an incredible individual who deserves every success he achieves in his career.”

Kylian Mbappé: Real Madrid’s criticism is an ‘overinterpretation’

Having transitioned from Real Madrid, where he won three LaLiga titles and the Champions League five times, to Manchester United, he currently holds a League Cup and FA Cup medal from his four years at Old Trafford.

Even with his team’s strong finish this season, Casemiro emphasized that United must aim higher than just qualifying for the Champions League.

“At United, the priority should always be titles; the goal should be winning,” he remarked.

“While this was a good season given the circumstances, it doesn’t meet the standard of what United should strive for.

“I reiterate that the focus must be on winning titles—United cannot be satisfied with merely placing third.

“We must continually aim for more—United should always operate with a mentality of competing for titles and success at the top of the league.”

Despite his outstanding season with Manchester United, Casemiro confirmed that he plans to leave the club at the season’s end, stating he wishes to depart on a high note.

He concluded, “I don’t envision a scenario where I stay—there’s no chance.

“As I mentioned, I want to exit through the front door, cherishing the wonderful four years I had. I am deeply grateful to the club and the fans.

“I believe it’s vital to leave on good terms and at the peak. I will always be a lifelong supporter of United here in England and remain thankful for the love from the fans.”
