Chelsea’s head coach Sonia Bompastor has urged her attack-minded side to “kill the hope” of Paris FC by delivering a decisive performance in their upcoming Women’s Champions League match on Wednesday.
The Women’s Super League champions head into the contest at Stamford Bridge after managing only two goals from open play across their last three games, a stretch that includes a disappointing 1-1 draw against Twente in their European opener last week.
In their last outing, Chelsea scraped a narrow 1-0 victory over Tottenham thanks to a long-range effort from Keira Walsh, while they also dropped points after a 1-1 stalemate with Manchester United the previous weekend.
This season, Chelsea has scored more than once in just three of their seven matches across all competitions.
“Analyzing our recent games, we’re creating plenty of chances, which is the most significant aspect,” Bompastor stated.
“Our statistics from the last six games show we excel in possession; we move the ball forward effectively and create entries into the box through various methods. However, the most challenging part of football is putting the ball in the net. We need to maintain our confidence and keep trying. Being clinical can diminish the opposition’s hope much earlier.”

In other fixtures on Wednesday, last season’s runners-up Barcelona aim for their second consecutive victory as they travel to face Roma, who suffered a heavy defeat against Real Madrid in their opening match.
Eight-time champions Lyon will entertain St. Polten from Austria; Twente seeks to build on their draw with Chelsea as they take on Leuven from Belgium; and Valerenga will host Wolfsburg.
