After earlier difficulties securing a deal for Camara, Chelsea made headway when reports suggested Everton‘s pursuit of Balogun was in doubt.
French sources indicated Monaco needed a major sale this summer and preferred to move on Balogun. A source at the Ligue 1 club had also said it would take a “substantial fee” to secure Camara’s exit.
Camara played in Monaco’s 2-0 win over Marseille on Sunday evening, while Balogun was omitted from the squad.
However, as doubts grew around Balogun’s proposed transfer, Monaco’s price for Camara seemed to drop, making a move to Chelsea more attainable at £47m.
When Balogun’s deal appeared back on track, Monaco seemed to reverse their stance on selling Camara.
