TRENDING RUMORS
– Bayern Munich is intensifying efforts to persuade striker Harry Kane to extend his contract, amid interest from clubs in both the Premier League and Saudi Pro League, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 32-year-old forward, whose current contract has just over a year left, is in inspired form this season, chasing Robert Lewandowski‘s legendary 41-goal single-season Bundesliga record.
– Vinícius Júnior is in ongoing discussions with Real Madrid regarding a contract extension, as reported by AS. The 25-year-old’s contract runs until 2027, and while he is a vital player for Madrid, there have been uncertainties about his future. Discontent under previous manager Xabi Alonso fueled speculation about a potential departure, with interest from clubs in both the Saudi Pro League and the Premier League. Nevertheless, following recent positive performances under Alvaro Arbeloa, he could extend his deal past next summer, with negotiations still taking place.
– Manchester City is prepared to set a world record for a fullback transfer by pursuing Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento this summer, as reported by TeamTalk. The current record stands at £60 million for Achraf Hakimi‘s transfer from Inter Milan to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021. City’s interest in Livramento is driven by his strong performances this season; Newcastle, meanwhile, is keen for the 23-year-old to sign a contract extension that extends until 2028.
– Scouts from Manchester United have been impressed by Stuttgart midfielder Chema Andrés, according to TeamTalk. The 20-year-old made his debut for Real Madrid before moving to Germany for only £2 million. United, along with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Newcastle, have all been monitoring Chema, but a deal is complicated by Real Madrid’s £10 million buyback clause.
– Manchester United is considering moving Mason Mount on this summer, reports Ekrem Konur. The midfielder has found it challenging to secure regular playing time since his £55 million transfer from Chelsea, due to injuries. With Mount approaching the final two years of his contract at Old Trafford, a departure appears likely, with Aston Villa reportedly expressing interest.
EXPERT TAKE
ESPN’s Real Madrid correspondent, Alex Kirkland, discusses why Vinícius Júnior may extend his contract with the club.
Vinícius genuinely enjoys playing for Real Madrid. His camp understands the sporting and commercial benefits of being part of one of the world’s top clubs. He is open to staying, pending a satisfactory agreement.
However, he currently earns a net salary of around €17 million annually. Both he and his representatives feel he deserves more—especially considering the earnings of teammate Kylian Mbappé, whose signing bonuses have resulted in an effective annual salary that nearly doubles Vinícius’s after his own recent accolade for being named The Best FIFA Football Award in 2024.
Last May, during their most recent negotiations, Madrid offered Vinícius €20 million per year. His camp deemed that increase insufficient and requested an additional €10 million in bonuses for a total of €30 million per year.
However, the club has yet to agree to those terms, and there have been no confirmed talks since then. Vinícius is currently in superb form, having scored six goals in his last five games across all competitions, and interim manager Álvaro Arbeloa has been full of praise for him.
