The Copa Libertadores trophy, recently won by Flamengo, was damaged during the jubilant title celebrations.
Flamengo secured a 1-0 victory over Palmeiras in the final held in Lima, Peru, making history as the first Brazilian club to claim the prestigious cup four times.
The players and coaching staff celebrated with a victory parade through the streets of Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, drawing approximately 500,000 fans to the festivities.
During the parade, team members took turns holding the cup, and pictures revealed that the top of the trophy, featuring a figurine of a footballer preparing to kick a ball, was secured with what appeared to be masking tape.
