Marc Cucurella has honored his commitment to get a tattoo commemorating his Spain coach, Luis de la Fuente, following Spain’s World Cup victory.
The newly signed Real Madrid player had previously stated during the early matches of the tournament in North America that he would get a tattoo of De la Fuente if Spain won the tournament.
Spain triumphed over Argentina with a 1-0 scoreline in extra-time at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19. Just nine days later, Cucurella revealed the new tattoo on Instagram, positioned just above his left elbow.
The tattoo depicts De la Fuente holding the World Cup trophy, accompanied by the number 26 to mark the year of Spain’s achievement.
Cucurella captioned the image: “A promise kept.” At 27, he played a pivotal role, starting all eight of Spain’s matches during the World Cup, ultimately contributing to the national team’s success.
In addition to his tattoo, Cucurella had previously dyed his long curly hair red following Spain’s victory in the 2024 European Championship, fulfilling another promise. He has recently signed with Real Madrid, concluding a four-year tenure at Chelsea.
After Spain secured the title, De la Fuente humorously pondered whether he should have encouraged the tattoo.
“I already told them, ‘Did you make a mistake?’” he joked. “They did, but I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.” He continued, “I do not consider myself unattractive enough that they must place it somewhere out of sight. It brings a smile to my face and makes me proud that they uphold their promises.”
