Dembélé Poised for PSG…

Ousmane Dembélé may make his return for Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League home game against Tottenham on Wednesday.

The Ballon d’Or winner has faced a challenging season marred by injuries, featuring in just nine matches following two separate injury setbacks.

However, after a positive training session on Tuesday, manager Luis Enrique indicated that the France international is likely to be included in the squad for the game against Spurs.

“He trained well. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow. If everything is fine, he will be part of the squad,” Enrique told the media.

This comes as a timely boost for PSG ahead of a crucial match, especially after their recent home defeat to Bayern Munich in their previous European outing earlier this month.

This match will mark the second encounter between these two clubs this season, following a thrilling Super Cup showdown in August.

In that match, Tottenham held a two-goal lead and looked on course for an upset before Dembélé sparked a dramatic comeback, leading to PSG’s victory via penalties after a 2-2 draw.

PSG, who are the reigning Champions League winners, had just returned to pre-season ahead of that encounter, and Luis Enrique promised a different outcome this time around.

“Tottenham has had an impressive start to the season, remaining unbeaten in the Champions League. Most of their squad comprises internationals and they are a strong team,” Enrique commented.

“The Super Cup? That was our first game of the season. Wednesday’s match will be different. It’s a fond memory because of how it ended, yet a tough one when remembering our struggles in the initial 60 minutes.

“We are in a better position to assert our dominance and secure a victory.”

“Our goal in every match remains the same: to dominate. It will be challenging, but playing at the Parc des Princes, we aim to deliver an excellent performance in front of our supporters.”

Wednesday could also be significant for PSG captain Marquinhos, should he be chosen to play.

The Brazil defender was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Le Havre but could reach his 500th appearance for the French side against Tottenham.

“If Marquinhos is fit, he will mark his 500th game on Wednesday. That’s an incredible milestone,” Luis Enrique noted.

“It’s significant for him and the entire team. It’s wonderful to witness a player with such a remarkable track record.

“He is a unique player and a true leader. He is very important to us, and I hope to have him around for many more years.”
