“I’d like that to happen because I feel we’re still a little light in one or two areas of the pitch.
“Ideally both would be permanent deals; realistically, one could be permanent and the other a loan, but our preference is two permanent signings.”
McInnes rued the lack of clear chances in Sunday’s final pre-season friendly, a 0-0 home draw with West Ham United.
“It’s about having difference-makers,” he said. “A club like ours needs players who can isolate defenders, take them on one v one, and play effectively on either side.
“We’re therefore seeking a bit more creativity to supply the strikers.
“We’ve got forwards in Nadiri, Chermiti, Shankland and Miovski who can all finish when chances come their way.
“Maybe only Chermiti regularly creates for himself, while Ryan, Lawrence and Bojan rely more on service.”
Meanwhile, with four games in 12 days, McInnes feels they’re “a bit short in terms of numbers defensively.”
“We had five senior defenders available, and Ross McCrorie tweaked his knee a touch, so we didn’t take any risks with him today,” he said.
Rangers have brought in three defensive midfielders this summer in anticipation of a possible Raskin departure.
Asked if the Belgian would feature at Tannadice, McInnes said: “Not at the start of the season, no. Looking ahead, Nico could attract interest—we’re well aware of that.
“We always thought he might be a flight risk this summer after the World Cup, so we’ve bolstered the midfield.
“But if nothing materialises for Nico, that’s another quality player in the group.”
On potential outgoings, McInnes added: “There’s been a little bit of interest in one or two, without naming names.”
