Uefa has handed Derry City a suspended partial closure of the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium. The sanction follows disorder between rival supporters before and during the Europa League match against CSKA Sofia on 16 July, which led to a police presence. The game, which Derry City lost 2-1 to exit the competition, was halted for 14 minutes as fans, including children, moved onto the pitch to avoid clashes in the stands.
The partial closure is suspended for a two-year probationary period. Derry City have also been fined €20,000 (£17,000). CSKA Sofia are banned from bringing away supporters to their next European fixture, with an additional one-game ban suspended for two years. The Bulgarian club were also fined a total of €55,000 (£47,000) and ordered to reach a settlement with Derry City over stadium damage.
