Paris Saint-Germain faced another setback on Wednesday when forward Désiré Doué exited the pitch on a stretcher during the second half of their 1-1 draw against struggling Lorient.
Doué was visibly distressed as he clutched his right thigh before being carried off in the 61st minute.
“It was an unusual injury, and I don’t have any updates on his condition yet,” PSG coach Luis Enrique commented. “I hope it isn’t serious, but we will have to wait for further assessments.”
Earlier in the season, Doué had been sidelined for several weeks due to a calf strain, and his PSG and France teammate Ousmane Dembélé also missed significant time with a hamstring injury.
Dembélé returned to the starting lineup, and left back Nuno Mendes gave PSG the lead in the 49th minute with a header from a Doué cross. However, Lorient equalized two minutes later with a powerful shot from Igor Silva.
“Our players had very little energy left by the end,” said Lorient coach Olivier Pantaloni.
Fortunately for PSG, they escaped severe repercussions from the dropped points, as Marseille conceded a goal just six minutes into stoppage time during a 2-2 home draw against Angers.
A victory would have put Marseille at the top of the table on goal difference. That prospect seemed likely after 18-year-old forward Robinio Vaz came off the bench to score twice. However, Angers defender Ousmane Camara capitalized on Marseille’s defensive retreat in the closing stages.
The draw allowed Monaco to surpass Marseille, moving into second place after a thrilling 5-3 victory over Nantes.
