Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney recently visited Portuguese team Sporting CP, where she appeared to mimic the signature celebration of a club legend, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.
Sweeney was in Lisbon on Friday to cheer on Sporting as they secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Estoril, keeping them competitive in their pursuit of the Portuguese Primeira Liga title race with FC Porto.
The star of “The White Lotus” and “Euphoria” received a special keepsake from her time at Estadio José Alvalade—a jersey featuring her name. Post-match, she even had the chance to meet Jubas, the club’s beloved lion mascot.
Sweeney attempted a goal and, while she didn’t seem to beat the goalkeeper, she thrilled the crowd by mimicking Fernandes’ signature celebration, raising her hands to cover her ears.
Fernandes, who played for Sporting for three seasons before transferring to Manchester United in January 2020, is well-known for this gesture, which signifies his ability to tune out external distractions.
As one of the prominent figures in contemporary film and television, Sweeney undoubtedly understands this sentiment.
With their recent win, Sporting remains just four points behind Porto and is set to face the league leaders in a critical match on Tuesday, followed by a showdown against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League round of 16 the following week.
