Football barely pauses. Qualifying for all three European club competitions is already under way, as is the Scottish League Cup, and the Scottish Premiership kicks off on 31 July.
In England, though, there will be fewer chances to catch competitive action once this weekend wraps up.
After Sunday’s final, it’s nearly two weeks until the Carabao Cup preliminary round, and close to a month before the EFL returns on 14 August, with the Community Shield that same weekend.
The Premier League follows a week later on 21 August, and with international breaks rescheduled, England’s next match won’t come until late September.
You can stay on top of all the pre-season friendlies on the BBC Sport website and app during the quieter weeks ahead, but if it’s live, competitive football you want, best get your fill now.
On the bright side, there’s another World Cup showdown between two top teams to enjoy this weekend.
Still stuck on the bad news, aren’t you?
