Eriksen: Amorims United…

Former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has publicly criticized manager Ruben Amorim for labeling last year’s team as the “worst” in the club’s history, asserting that such comments “didn’t help at all.”

Amorim, who has frequently expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s performance during his challenging 14-month tenure, previously stated last January that “we are the worst team, maybe, in the history of Manchester United.”

Eriksen, who departed United last summer after a four-year stint at Old Trafford, mentioned that these remarks came at a time when the players were already attempting to ignore external criticism, particularly from former players-turned-pundits, and only added more pressure on the squad.

“That didn’t help,” Eriksen told The Sunday Times. “It certainly didn’t assist the players at all. Some things are better left unsaid publicly when you’re trying to reduce pressure on players who are already giving their best.”

“I don’t believe that helped at all. Whether he’s right or wrong isn’t the point; for us it felt like, ‘Oh, here we go again, another headline.’”

Last season, United finished in 15th place in the Premier League, but they currently sit sixth after 18 matches this year.

Eriksen, a Tottenham legend with 310 league appearances in England, has joined Wolfsburg on a free transfer this summer.
