Everton finalize deal to…

Everton have reached an agreement to sign Finland international striker Jutta Rantala from Leicester City. Leicester say Rantala has a year left on her deal, so the 26-year-old is expected to command a fee.

BBC Sport reported last week that the clubs were in talks, having already done business earlier this summer. France forward Noemie Mouchon moved to Everton from Leicester on a free, while Wales international Hannah Cain also returned to Merseyside from the Foxes.

Rantala has scored 13 goals in 48 appearances since joining Leicester from Swedish side Vittsjo GIK in 2023. She was the club’s player of the season and top scorer in 2023-24, before a knee injury the following campaign.

At international level, Rantala has 10 goals in 36 caps and was part of Finland’s Euro 2025 squad.

Her move would make her the sixth player to leave Leicester this summer after their relegation from the Women’s Super League in June. Everton, who finished eighth last season following Brian Sorensen’s departure, are rebuilding under Scott Phelan, appointed permanent head coach this summer, and have made four signings so far.
