Evidence request delays…

Grace Riglar, a teammate who was in a relationship with Cusack, told the court that Cusack felt concerned about Morgan joining the club after previously working with him at Leicester City.

Morgan, giving evidence, said he had no worries about his relationship with Cusack when he took over as Sheffield United manager.

He told the inquest on Tuesday that he had offered Cusack a full-time deal at the club and was “really happy” to have her in his squad.

The inquest also heard that Morgan told the Football Association (FA) that Cusack was “generally a liar”, saying she had left out significant details when speaking to her family about his conduct.

It was further stated that he had previously released her from the squad while coaching at Leicester City.

On Thursday, Cartwright said the inquest must be paused so she could seek additional details about Cusack’s medical history.

She said Sheffield United would be asked to search its Microsoft Teams and Google Drive archives for any material relating to Cusack, and that an audit of her health records on the club’s system in the months before her death would be requested.

Previously, Sheffield United’s doctor, Dr Subhasis Basu, told the inquest that Cusack’s medical records from her time at the club had been lost.

Addressing Cusack’s family, the assistant coroner acknowledged how long they had waited and offered an apology.

She said she was sorry to the family and other interested parties, noting that hopes to conclude the hearing that day or the next would not be met.

Cartwright added that several witnesses would be recalled, including Basu and team physio Francesca Carr.

Cusack’s mother, Deborah, may also be asked to return to give further evidence.

When it resumes, the inquest is expected to run for five days.
