BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Flamengo has advanced to the Copa Libertadores final after managing a scoreless draw against Racing Club on Wednesday during the second leg of their semifinal matchup.
The Brazilian team retained the 1-0 advantage it garnered in the first leg and is now aiming to secure victory in the prestigious South American tournament for the fourth time.
Flamengo’s previous triumphs in the Copa Libertadores came in 1981, 2019, and 2022. Another championship would grant Brazil its eighth title in the last nine tournaments.
The final is set to take place on November 29 at Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru.
Flamengo successfully secured their place in the final even after playing the majority of the second half with just ten players, following the expulsion of Gonzalo Plata in the 56th minute.
In the other semifinal, Ecuador’s Liga de Quito holds a commanding 3-0 lead over Brazil’s Palmeiras.
