Flares Aimed at Forest…

Players from Nottingham Forest had to evade fireworks launched onto the field by Fenerbahce fans at the start of their second leg in the Europa League play-off.

Shortly after the match commenced, play was halted for three minutes as sections of the away crowd, comprised of about 1,500 supporters, released several fireworks into the Forest penalty area.

Defender Jair Cunha had to quickly react to avoid the fireworks, which he didn’t see coming, while Neco Williams ducked to escape the pyrotechnics as he attempted to remove one from the field.

Archie Brown, a Fenerbahce defender with a history in Derby’s academy, stepped in to clear some of the fireworks while calling for his fellow fans to maintain calm.

Both Forest and Fenerbahce could now be facing sanctions from UEFA.

A significant police presence was visible outside City Ground prior to kickoff, managing the passionate fans as they entered the stadium.

Forest holds a 3-0 advantage from the first leg and is poised to meet either Real Betis or FC Midtjylland in the round of 16.

However, Fenerbahce sparked hopes for a comeback by scoring first in the 22nd minute through Kerem Aktürkoglu.

This goal was met with a flurry of fireworks being hurled onto the pitch once again.
