Guardiola Backs City…

Pep Guardiola has come to the defense of his Manchester City squad after they faced consecutive defeats against Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt, asserting that his players are “extraordinary.”

City struggled in their 2-0 loss at Old Trafford and the lackluster performance in Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat in Norway led key players, including Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Rúben Dias, and Erling Haaland, to arrange a refund for supporters who purchased tickets.

As Manchester City prepares to host Wolves at the Etihad on Saturday, Guardiola took the opportunity to respond to the recent criticism aimed at his team during a challenging week.

“Just a week ago, we secured a 2-0 victory at Newcastle, and you can see how strong they are in the Champions League,” Guardiola noted. “I have an extraordinary team, and we are united. I have no doubts about that.”

Regarding Arsenal, he acknowledged, “They are the best team in the world right now, and hopefully, we can improve and keep close enough to have a chance to catch them.”

Guardiola also indicated that he will give a debut to Marc Guéhi against Wolves. The 25-year-old defender joins from Crystal Palace and is expected to step into the lineup due to injuries sidelining Josko Gvardiol, John Stones, and Dias.

Antoine Semenyo is also poised for a return after missing the Bodo/Glimt match due to eligibility issues.

“I understand the team’s fragility, and I know how to address it,” Guardiola expressed. “It’s not solely about one player, but Guéhi will be a valuable addition because he is exceptional. He’s a player for England, having won the FA Cup and had an outstanding season. I recognize how to resolve the fragility we’re experiencing.”
