Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman has disclosed that he is currently in discussions to acquire a stake in Norwich City.
Jackman, an Australian and a lifelong Canaries supporter thanks to his mother’s roots in Norwich, is good friends with Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds. He expressed on talkSPORT that the two could soon find themselves as rivals in the Championship.
“I’m extremely interested and currently having discussions,” Jackman stated when asked about his potential involvement in English football. “Good for Ryan; you do your thing. I’m all about the Canaries.”
In 2023, Jackman accepted an invitation to watch Wrexham play, alongside his co-star from Deadpool and Wolverine, Reynolds, who co-owns the Welsh team with fellow actor Rob McElhenney.
Under their ownership, Wrexham has soared from the National League to the Championship, achieving three consecutive promotions between 2022 and 2025.
Jackman further shared, “I’ve been to Carrow Road a couple of times and I adore the Canaries. I predict this is the year we’ll get promoted.”
“I believe both Norwich and Wrexham will earn promotion this season.”
Born in Sydney, the 57-year-old Jackman had previously stated that he was presented with an opportunity to invest in Norwich back in 2010, which he declined.
Reflecting on 2011, he mentioned, “I sometimes make significant mistakes. I received a letter about a year ago inviting me to be a celebrity investor as a major Norwich City fan. But I thought it was a bit of a stretch since I had only been to Carrow Road once with my mom, so I opted not to invest. And since then, they have been on quite a run. What do I know?”

The majority stake in Norwich City is held by American billionaire Mark Attanasio, who initially invested in the club in 2022 and has gradually increased his ownership. In August 2024, Attanasio, also the owner of the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team, took majority control from Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones.
