Tottenham Hotspur has officially named Igor Tudor as their new head coach, following the dismissal of Thomas Frank due to the club’s precarious position above the relegation zone. The team has managed only two wins in their last 17 Premier League matches.
Tudor, the former coach of Juventus, will lead the team through to the season’s end. His first challenge will be the highly anticipated north London derby against league leaders Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on February 22.
The club has stated that Tudor’s mission is clear: to instill organization, intensity, and competitiveness within the squad at this crucial phase of the season.
“It is an honor to join this prestigious club at such a pivotal time,” Tudor expressed. “I recognize the responsibility that comes with this role and my focus is straightforward: to enhance the consistency of our performances and to compete with determination in every match.”
“This squad possesses considerable talent, and my objective is to organize, energize, and drive improvements in our results swiftly.”
Sporting director Johan Lange commented on Tudor’s appointment: “Igor brings clarity, intensity, and the ability to make a difference in challenging situations. Our goal is simple: to stabilize performance, maximize the squad’s potential, and compete vigorously in both the Premier League and the Champions League.”
At 47, Tudor has managed teams such as Lazio, Marseille, and Galatasaray, but has never remained at a club for more than two years.
His immediate focus will be on revitalizing Tottenham’s fortunes and steering the club clear of a relegation fight in the Premier League.
