On Wednesday, Inter Miami announced the signing of Brazilian center-back Micael on loan from Palmeiras. The loan will last until the end of the 2026 MLS season, with an option to make the deal permanent.

Micael joins the team after contributing one assist in 28 matches for Palmeiras in various competitions, including the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, Campeonato Paulista, Copa Libertadores, and Copa do Brasil.

The defender was also part of Palmeiras’ squad for the Club World Cup, where they faced Inter Miami in the group stage, ending in a 2-2 draw.

Micael has previous MLS experience, having played for the Houston Dynamo from 2022 to 2024, where he scored three goals in 80 appearances. During his time with the Dynamo, he contributed to the team’s success in clinching the 2023 US Open Cup by defeating Inter Miami 2-1 at Chase Stadium.

Micael transferred to Palmeiras in 2025 for a notable fee—reportedly the highest ever received by the Houston Dynamo—amounting to $6 million.

He arrives at Inter Miami in anticipation of the 2026 season, joining fellow new signings goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair, along with defenders Facundo Mura and Sergio Reguilón.

ESPN sources indicate that additional signings are likely during the winter transfer window, with Rocco Ríos Novo and Tadeo Allende expected to return to the roster.

Following their MLS Cup victory on December 6, Miami confirmed the return of veteran forward Luis Suárez, who has extended his contract through the end of the 2026 season.

Inter Miami will commence the 2026 MLS season against LAFC on February 21.
