Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has announced that striker Alexander Isak is uncertain for this weekend’s match against Brentford due to a groin injury he sustained during a game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Isak left the field at half-time in the match at Deutsche Bank Park, and Slot confirmed post-match that he experienced some discomfort in his groin. Additionally, defender Jeremie Frimpong suffered a hamstring injury, while Ryan Gravenberch was absent due to an ankle issue.
During a news conference on Friday, Slot provided updates on the trio: “Jeremie is in a tough situation; he won’t play today, tomorrow, or next week due to a hamstring injury. Alex is feeling better but remains a question mark for the weekend. The same goes for Ryan.”
Liverpool’s recent 5-1 victory against Frankfurt marked a significant turnaround after a dismal run of four consecutive defeats, their worst performance in 11 years.
One player facing challenges this season is Mohamed Salah, who was dropped from the starting lineup midweek after scoring only three goals for the team this season.
“It’s not solely about the new signings and the changes that come with it; we have a lot of talented players,” Slot remarked.
“Identifying the best lineup involves several factors—opponent, player form, and their synergy on the field.”

“When considering top clubs globally, they often have more than 11 players capable of competing. After numerous changes this summer, I expected some adjustment period even while we enjoyed a series of seven consecutive wins. Growth is essential for the team, and there are times when it may not be smooth sailing.”
Regarding Salah, Slot added: “With several changes in the squad over the summer, it’s crucial for everyone to re-establish their connections on the field. Mo is no exception; he’s as human as anyone else.”}
