Isak: No Communication…

Liverpool striker Alexander Isak revealed that he hasn’t communicated with former manager Eddie Howe since his contentious departure from Newcastle United and expressed his desire to move on from the transfer drama of the summer.

Isak made a British record transfer to Liverpool on deadline day after a prolonged period of striking at Newcastle to facilitate the move. The 26-year-old faced backlash for his approach but now believes it’s time to let go for the benefit of everyone involved.

“It’s not something I want to linger on,” Isak stated during a press conference ahead of Sweden’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Switzerland. “It doesn’t help anyone involved, including myself or Newcastle, so let’s move on.”

When asked if he had any conversation with Howe post-exit, Isak replied: “No.”

The Sweden international has recorded one goal and one assist in six matches for Liverpool thus far, although his playing time has been managed as he aims to regain full fitness.

Arne Slot’s team is currently positioned second in the Premier League standings, having suffered three consecutive defeats—their first such streak since 2023.

“I’m putting in the effort to elevate my game,” Isak commented. “We’ve faced some challenges, but I believe as the team improves and gains momentum, it will positively impact my performance as well.”

“I’m really enjoying my time so far. It’s a city where the connection between the team and the fans is strong, and that’s very important.

As Sweden gears up for their World Cup qualifying journey, Isak stated: “I’m prepared for a full 90 minutes if needed. It’s been a month now, and I’ve had more playing time, making progress. I feel in a much better place than before.”
