Jurrien Timber has temporarily left Arsenal’s training camp in Spain to return to London for a planned step in his recovery from the groin problem that sidelined him late last season. Club sources say the trip is part of his rehabilitation and not a setback, and he is expected to rejoin the squad in Spain.
The Netherlands international missed two months toward the end of last season with an ankle injury but returned for the Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. A subsequent groin issue then kept him out of the World Cup.
Arsenal’s first-choice right-back, Timber made 30 Premier League appearances in last season’s title-winning campaign. He joined from Ajax in July 2023 for an initial £34m, having missed most of his debut season after an ACL injury.
Arsenal play Manchester City in the Community Shield on 16 August (15:00 BST), then start their Premier League title defence against promoted Coventry City on 21 August (20:00 BST).
