Klopps agent: Man Utd,…

Jürgen Klopp’s agent stated that both Manchester United and Chelsea reached out to him after his departure from Liverpool.

Marc Kosicke revealed in an interview with Transfermarkt that the 58-year-old German manager had the opportunity to take charge of either England or the United States following his exit from Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 season.

However, both United and Chelsea have strongly denied making any approach to Klopp, either directly or through an agent, as per Press Association sources. In 2024, ESPN reported that both the USMNT and England had considered Klopp in their managerial searches, but he ultimately declined.

The former manager of Mainz and Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a nine-year tenure at Liverpool before transitioning to his current role overseeing global football operations at Red Bull.

Kosicke remarked, “Maybe at some point he’ll feel the need to return to a locker room. But for now, he’s very, very content in his current role.”

“Before joining Red Bull, Jürgen could have taken the reins of the United States or England. He probably might have also considered Germany, had Julian Nagelsmann not been appointed there already.”

He continued, “Even Chelsea and Manchester United showed interest, although Jürgen had clearly communicated that he wouldn’t manage any other team in England.”

“These inquiries continue to arise. He’s immensely proud of what he has accomplished and enjoys being one of the few coaches to have only managed three clubs without ever being dismissed.”

Kosicke noted that the United States reached out to Klopp prior to hiring Mauricio Pochettino as Gregg Berhalter’s successor in September 2024, while the Football Association appointed Thomas Tuchel as Gareth Southgate’s replacement in January 2025.

The FA has been contacted for further comments.

In October, Klopp expressed he did not plan to return to management, although he mentioned that a return to Liverpool remains a possibility. “I said I would never coach a different team in England. So that means if I return, it’s Liverpool,” Klopp said in a podcast interview last year. “Theoretically, it’s possible.”

“I enjoy my current work and don’t miss coaching. Well, I do coach; just not players, and I don’t miss it. I don’t miss standing in the rain for two-and-a-half, three hours, or going to press conferences three times a week with 10-12 interviews weekly. I don’t miss that.”
