Kylian Mbappé participated in a portion of Thursday’s training session with his Real Madrid teammates, and sources have indicated to ESPN that there is optimism about the France star’s potential inclusion in the squad for the upcoming match against Barcelona on Sunday.
Álvaro Arbeloa’s squad travels to Camp Nou with the primary goal of halting Barcelona’s march towards the LaLiga title, as the Catalan club currently holds an 11-point lead at the top of the standings with only four matches left in the season.
Real Madrid’s preparations have been disrupted by a recent altercation between Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni during training, which resulted in Valverde needing stitches in the hospital.
Mbappé’s participation in training was encouraging, as a source revealed he felt good during the session.
Another source mentioned that there is hope Mbappé will at least be part of the squad, though it will ultimately be up to Arbeloa to decide whether he starts the match or comes off the bench.
Mbappé sustained a slight muscle strain during the game against Real Betis on April 24, which sidelined him for the 2-0 victory over Espanyol last Sunday.

“We’ll assess Mbappé’s condition this week. After last week’s tests, it might take a bit longer, but we’ll see how things progress,” Arbeloa commented following the Espanyol match when discussing Mbappé’s potential availability for the Clásico.
