Andy Robertson is set to depart Liverpool at the conclusion of the current season, after nine successful years at Anfield, as announced by the Premier League club on Thursday.
The Scottish defender has an impressive list of honors, including two Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, the FA Cup, two League Cups, as well as victories in the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Community Shield since joining from Hull City in 2017.

“After nine immensely successful seasons at Anfield, the Scotland captain will depart the club when his contract concludes this summer,” Liverpool stated in a press release.
“He will leave as a true Liverpool legend, having played a crucial part in the club’s recent successes with an impressive total of 373 appearances.”
With his contract expiring this summer, Robertson has recently lost his starting spot following the acquisition of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, leading to only 15 starts this season.
ESPN reported that Liverpool had discussions with Tottenham Hotspur regarding a potential January transfer, as Robertson expressed interest in moving. Ultimately, however, he opted to stay at Anfield due to a host of defensive injuries.
“Leaving a club like Liverpool is never easy; it has been a massive part of my life and my family’s for the past nine years,” Robertson shared with the club’s website. “However, players and people move on, while the club and the fans remain constant.
“I’ve had an incredible time here. It’s well-known that I had opportunities to leave over the past year, but I chose to stay because of how difficult it is to walk away from this club. I wouldn’t change that for anything.
“However, I understand that football is constantly evolving, and teams must evolve. Now feels like the right time for me to explore new opportunities in my career.
“I’ll cherish the amazing memories I’ve created at this club. I’ve invested my heart and soul over the last nine years and have few regrets. I’ve grown both as a person and as a player. This club will always hold a special place in my heart, and the fans mean everything to me. It’s been quite a journey.”
Although it took him some time to cement his position as Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice left-back, Robertson eventually replaced Alberto Moreno and has held down the position ever since, collecting numerous accolades along the way.
“I’ll leave it to others to determine whether I’m considered a Liverpool legend or not—I’m not one to accept such titles,” Robertson concluded.
“From day one, I aimed to be successful here. I wanted to bring trophies back to this club and help restore its glory. I take pride in having played a part in such fantastic teams that achieved this. The club means everything to me.”
