Liverpool has decided to withdraw from negotiations with Tottenham regarding the potential transfer of veteran full-back Andy Robertson.
The London club made an approach late last week as manager Thomas Frank looked to bolster his squad with some veteran presence.
Liverpool acknowledged the inquiry in light of Robertson’s significant contributions over the past eight and a half years, as he is set to become a free agent in the summer.
However, according to the Press Association, the club has opted against continuing discussions regarding the Scotland captain, who will turn 32 in March, after weighing their options. Sources have informed ESPN that Liverpool wishes to retain Robertson, who has not requested a transfer.
Robertson has only started four matches in the Premier League this season, having been replaced by Milos Kerkez, but he has featured in the starting XI for four out of seven Champions League matches, including key games against Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan.
The vice-captain of Liverpool came on as a substitute in the second half during Saturday’s defeat at Bournemouth. Coach Arne Slot later explained that Kerkez was substituted due to being in the “red zone,” indicating a higher risk of injury.

Slot has already been dealt with the loss of defenders Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni due to season-ending injuries. Additionally, Joe Gomez had to exit the match against Bournemouth after colliding with goalkeeper Alisson Becker, although the injury is expected to be minor.
Fellow defender Ibrahima Konaté has missed the previous two matches due to the death of his father.
After the match, captain Virgil van Dijk expressed his desire for Robertson to remain, while Slot emphasized his intention to keep all his players eligible as they continue competing in both the Champions League and FA Cup.
