Liverpool Reaches Out to…

According to sources, Liverpool has reached out to the PGMOL regarding their serious concerns over the disallowed goal by Virgil van Dijk in their match against Manchester City.

Despite being defeated 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, Liverpool believed they had equalized when Van Dijk scored from a corner in the first half. However, the goal was disallowed after it was determined that Andy Robertson, who was in an offside position, obstructed Gianluigi Donnarumma‘s view in goal, with VAR official Michael Oliver supporting the on-field ruling.

The Premier League match center acknowledged on X that Robertson was “deemed to be making an obvious action directly in front of the goalkeeper.”

Sources indicate that Liverpool contends the language in Law 11, which pertains to offside offenses, is explicit and believe that none of the necessary conditions for disallowing the goal were satisfied.

After reviewing all available camera angles, the club disagrees with the assessment that Robertson’s presence hindered Donnarumma’s line of sight.

Following this defeat to City, Liverpool now sits in eighth place in the Premier League, trailing leaders Arsenal by eight points.
