Luis Enrique warns PSG of…

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has cautioned his players against becoming complacent in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Liverpool, despite their impressive 2-0 win at Parc des Princes last week.

PSG secured the first leg victory with goals from Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and could have widened their margin of victory given their dominant performance.

This result leaves Liverpool with a chance for redemption when the teams meet again at Anfield on Tuesday night. Enrique has emphasized the need for PSG to maintain their focus and deliver another strong performance.

“The challenge in this match is to stay vigilant,” Enrique remarked. “There are potential pitfalls. It’s almost a trap. People may think, ‘you won easily 2-0 and are far better than the opposition,’ but things can shift rapidly in football.”

“We must be prepared. It’s possible to concede early in the game and still have an open contest. I believe we need to approach this match with the same seriousness as before. Liverpool will likely come out aggressively and try to score, but my team needs to understand that they will face challenges. It won’t be straightforward.”

This marks the second consecutive year Liverpool has encountered PSG in the knockout phase of the tournament. Last season, the teams ended in a 1-1 aggregate draw, with PSG advancing on penalties.

When asked if his team is stronger this year compared to last, Enrique responded, “It’s hard to determine if we are better this time around or last time. That kind of comparison doesn’t lead anywhere. What truly matters is that we have demonstrated our capabilities and successfully navigated challenges. That’s one of our strengths. We needed a victory last year after losing the first leg. This year we won the first match but will prepare for the second leg just as thoroughly.”
